Ahhhh-finally smelled gunpowder again!
We (Elliot, Tom & I) went out shooting today, after several months of one thing or another stopping us. Tom is a skeet shooter (just about every week he shoots 4 lines) so he was showing us rookies how to do it. Tom doesn’t like trap at all, but he is an awesome skeet shooter, like 23 of 25 is a terrible round, so he was doing more teaching than anything our first box. We ended up shooting a total of 100 shells. We didn’t keep score but I think I averaged 5 or 6 each line. Some of them birds come out of the house soooo fast. Also, trying to pump my 870 on the doubles – holy crap! I think I just might have to go get me a over/under – oh darn!
Then I convinced them to run a line of trap with me. Again, I shot terrible. I mean I really embarrassed the off -a-lot name. It has been way too long since I shot – I hope to get out at least twice a month with the guys. Tom said he tried trap about 20 years ago and didn’t like it. However, he said he would be more than happy to pull for me whenever I went out with him.
Tom mentioned that I should switch the choke in my 870 to a regular ”skeet” choke. Would you recommend that? He said that my mechanics are pretty good, so with the other choke my scores should get better.
Even though I sucked, it felt so nice to get out there and make it rain orange.
